Vehicles and trailers

The team operates a comprehensively equipped fleet of emergency vehicles and trailers to enable it to respond to the wide range of incidents (and areas) that the team is called out to.

"First Response" vehicles - Defender 110 "County". Two in service, BM1 "Tony" and BM2 "General", both able to carry five personnel or a stretcher with casualty, an attendant and driver. Each carries a wide range of search, rescue and casualty care equipment, including oxygen resuscitation and pulse monitoring equipment, Entonox® gas, search lighting, crag and line rescue kit, three different types of stretchers, casualty shelter tents, comprehensive first aid kits and spinal management splints.

Incident Support vehicle - Defender 110 "Hard Top", BM3 "Nellie". One in service, able to transport two personnel, and carry a wide range of equipment to compliment our First Response vehicles and to support the team in its search and rescue role.

Defender 110 CSW Personnel Carrier - BM4. One in service, used as a seven seater personnel carrier, with an independent rescue capability.

Control trailer - Fitted out to enable command, control and communications of a search and rescue incident, it is equipped with mobile phones, mountain rescue and ambulance radio equipment, computer & monitor including local area digital mapping in a variety of formats, printing, scanning, laminating and photocopying facilities, a twelve metre extendable radio mast and full interior lighting. Power is supplied by a portable generator.

Mobile catering unit - A fully fitted out kitchen trailer, with power and lighting supplied by its own portable generator. Beverages and quick-to-prepare ready meals are in stock to feed the full forty strong team for 24 hours away from any support facilities.

Aireshelta air inflated shelter tent - 2.4 x 3.6 metres - this versatile fully weatherproof shelter tent is utilised by the team as a briefing facility, messing facility, and debriefing facility. It also has a role in any major incident response where the team may need in-the-field shelter for an extended period of operations.

Our trio of Control trailer, Catering trailer, and Aireshelta, complete with their own portable generator unit means the team can operate as a complete self-contained unit for at least 24 hours in a field situation without external support.

All our vehicles and trailers have been purchased entirely by the team's own fund raising efforts, along with grants and donations (With particular thanks to the National Lotteries Charities Board, Miss Ellen Sykes and the M2002 Commonwealth Games).
