The first was at 10.58hrs, near the northern end of Anglezarke Reservoir, when a 58 year old male competitor from Bolton, suffered a very serious knee laceration, which was dealt with by our BM5 vehicle crew, he was subsequently transported to the event finish in our BM5 vehicle, and referred to hospital.

At 11.10hrs a 42 years old male competitor from Horwich, was treated at the White Coppice event checkpoint for a deep laceration to his right forearm, by our BM4 vehicle crew, being transported in the same vehicle to his home address near Wilderswood, Horwich, and advised to go to hospital.

At 11.15hrs at the same White Coppice checkpoint, a 30 year old male competitor (From Whitefield, Manchester) was treated for an ankle injury, being transported back to the event finish in the same vehicle transporting the previous casualty.

The ‘final’ incident came at 11.40hrs, again at White Coppice checkpoint, with a 57 year old male competitor, from Stalybridge, who was feeling unwell, dizzy and unsteady.

Our BM2 vehicle crew immediately commenced observations and care, including the administration of oxygen.

Such was his condition that NWAS (Lancashire) were contacted, who despatched the NWAA Helimed 72 and two Ambulance vehicles.

An NWAS (Lancashire) Rapid Response Vehicle arrived at 12.05hrs ansd with the arrival of an NWAS (Lancashire) Emergency Ambulance at 12.12hrs, the Air Ambulance Helimed 72 (Which had been on route from Congleton) was stood own as no longer required.

The male was taken by NWAS Ambulance to Chorley Hospital for further observation and treatment, with this last incident concluding at 12.40hrs regards our involvement.

During the event we also dealt with a number of retirements from this long and quite demanding event.
