Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

15th November 2001

At 13:49 today we attended an incident in Rivington – a downhill mountain biker had come off his bike on the Georges Lane track (running down from the Pigeon Tower) at Rivington. He sustained himself a fractured leg (And amazingly didn’t mind when the paramedics were cutting up his body armour!) Our first member was on scene within 10 minutes, followed by Lancashire Ambulance Service. The casualty was airlifted from the scene by Helimed 08 (NWAA Helicopter) to the Royal Preston Hospital – after exhausting 1 vehicles supply of Entonox® analgesic gas! This article appeared in the Bolton Evening News the following day, covering the story.

Casualty is transferred into Helimed 08 after BMRT personnel carried him to the landing site.
