Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

1st January 2003

After a busy early morning, New Year’s Day series of calls in direct support of GMAS (see separate entry), the team was called out late afternoon to assist GMAS with an incident involving two persons trapped in mud at Pennington Flash Country Park, Leigh.
The fire service and police were also called direct to this incident. The large multi-agency response (including the police helicopter, providing search light illumination of the scene), saw the fire service utilise a rescue mat walkway to gain access over soft mud to the trapped 32 year old woman and 13 year old girl. The team assisted the fire and ambulance services throughout the operation. Both casualties were taken to hospital for routine checks, and were released thereafter.
