Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

3rd September 2003

Whilst driving to our Wednesday night exercise on 3rd September, trainee team member Alastair Philips came upon the immediate aftermath of a potentially serious moorland road RTA, involving two cars and their drivers. He rendered immediate assistance upto and including the arrival of GMP, then left the scene as two GMAS crews took over, later joined by three more Police vehicles, and two GMCFS Fire Appliances.
Our members whilst out and about, as with any members of the public, come across accidents of varied natures, sometimes as the “first on scene”, and always render their assistance, to the best of their capabilities and training. Alastair himself commented on this incident, stating “before joining the team 6 months ago I would not have known what to do, but it all just clicked into place.” (Note: incidents attended by team members of this nature do not feature in our incident reports, as in essence these incidents are dealt with whilst members are “off duty“, if such a thing could exist !)
