Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

23rd September 2004

Congratulations to team member Chris Greenhalgh, aged 24, who has been a team member since February 2002, and who today passed out as a Firefighter with Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, following a 16 week intensive recruit training course. We all wish Chris well in his future career as a firefighter (Chris will be based at Higher Broughton, Salford, Fire Station).

To our Team Leader’s knowledge, Chris is the third team member in the history of the team to join GMFRS whilst still in the team (The other two are Ray Clift and Glynn McGann, both have now left the team but still assist and associate with the team). Another ex-team member, Simon Johnson, who was the Ranger at Rivington and went on to be a Lake District National Park Ranger, and member of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, also joined GMFRS last year (so the team is having a very slow takeover of the Fire Service!)
