Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

28th February 2005

A period of heavy snowfall hit specific parts of Greater Manchester this morning, making road conditions difficult. This had a knock-on effect during a period of peak demand for GMAS, resulting in both Bolton MRT and Oldham MRT placing vehicles on standby for GMAS. A full pager message went out at 09:31 and 13 members quickly arrived at our LBH base. In total, commencing at 10:34 with the last call received at 12:08, the team was called to 6 jobs excluding being sent to various standby locations (primarily at our Ladybridge Hall Base)

2 of the jobs involved the direct transfers of casualties by the team in team Landrover ambulances, including one potentially very serious accident involving a neck injury. Another job involved the team stretcher evacuating a casualty in a team vehicle a short distance from the home address to a GMAS ambulance, which could not access the address due to wintry road conditions.
