Each year our colleagues at Bowland Pennine MRT organise an exercise at the end of January to which there is an open invite to other teams to attend.
Today our Training Officer Fred Taylor and four other Bolton MRT members journeyed to the Trough of Bowland to take part in this year’s exercise.
Excellent full winter sunshine greeted the multi scenerio/multi casualty exercise, and our group along with an attached Lancashire Constabulary Officer were allocated a search area in the Tarn Brook/Wards Stone area of the Trough of Bowland, locating and treating two exercise casualties.
Alongside the full Bowland Pennine MRT, there was also participation from the following MRTs: Holme Valley, Kendal, Cave Rescue Organisation, and Rossendale & Pendle, alongside of course our team.
Lancashire Constabulary also sent a large element to the exercise along with their Air Support Unit helicopter, which joined forces with another helicopter in the shape of the North West Air Ambulance, Helimed 08. Following a full exercise debrief our five returned home in the late evening having first set out at 07.00 hrs this morning.
