Every year, Chorley & District Young Farmers Club, which represents farming interests not only in the Chorley area but also the Bolton area, organises an annual Hog Roast evening for their members and supporters with all proceeds going to a charity of their choice.
This year the team was contacted by the organiser Rachael Fitton, who enquired whether we would like to be their charity of choice for this year.
The team of course readily accepted this very kind offer of support and also took up the invitation for some team members and two team vehicles to attend and show those present what this year’s proceeds would go towards.
Team members chat to the guests at Moss Hall Farm
Over 350 guests attended this year’s annual Hog Roast, the seventh to be held at Moss Hall Farm, in the Chew Moor district of Bolton, with the hosts for the evening being Rachel Fitton and her family. (It turns out Rachael’s mother and father had links to the team in the early 1970’s through a team members’ brother at the time – it’s a small world!)
7 team members attended with two team vehicles, and stayed for most of the full evening’s proceedings, which included the Hog Roast itself, Disco, Licensed Bar, and of course much merriment.
A lot of interest was shown in the work of the team and many questions were asked of the seven members present.
We have been informed by Rachael that based on events in previous years, we can expect a substantial donation, so keep watching the website for news of this once the accounts for the evening are finalised.
We thank Chorley & District Young Farmers Club for considering our cause and deciding to support us at this event.
