Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

1st January 2007

At 10:31 Hrs today NWAS (Manchester Locality) paged the Team for assistance with an incident in the vicinity of Sale Water Park, Sale, for a female who slipped whilst enjoying a New Year’s Day walk with her husband & dog.

At 10:35 Hrs a full team callout message was paged and our first member was on scene at 10:43 Hrs closely followed by another. A little search took place to locate the casualty site, which was a very wet and water logged field, the female casualty was found to have a suspected fracture of the hip.

With the joint arrival of two Team Landrover MR Ambulances and more members, the casualty was transferred to our Bell Mountain Rescue Stretcher and carried a short distance, but uphill along a slippy & wet path, to the waiting NWAS (ML) Ambulance.

With the transfer of the casualty to the NWAS ambulance and her departure to Trafford General Hospital, the 14 Team members were stood down at 11:39 Hrs and vehicles returned to our Ladybridge Base / HQ for a clean.

There were a few bleary eyed members today, with what is becoming a trend on New Year’s Day. Many of the members present had also assisted NWAS (ML) with the peak demand assistance over the New Year’s Eve night into New Year’s Day, see previous news article.
