Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

1st September 2007

In association with the links we forged with Fleetwood RNLI Station early last Summer, when we enjoyed two visits to the Lifeboat Station inclusive of trips out in their inshore and offshore boats, the team was invited today to take part in the RNLI Lifeboat Day 2007 event at Fleetwood Lifeboat Station.

Representing Mountain Rescue teams in general, the team sent along three members and a Landrover Mountain Rescue ambulance which took part in the demonstrations to the public alongside Lifeboat assets from Fleetwood, Barrow and Blackpool Lifeboat stations.

The day itself was an excellent family day in sunny weather with huge crowds turning up raising over £2,500 on the day for the RNLI.

Local dignitaries attending the event included the Mayor of Fleetwood, the Deputy Mayor of Preesall, and the local MP.

During the day, our team members present were requested directly to give aid to a collapsed man on a tram. Responding with some Lifeboat supporters, they tended to the collapsed man and administered oxygen upto the arrival of the responding NWAS (Lancashire area) Emergency Ambulance. (Please note this has not been reported within our Incident Listings)

Our thanks are extended to our friends and colleagues at Fleetwood RNLI for the invitation to attend their open day on behalf of Mountain Rescue.

Following our visit their station on two occassions last year we have invited the personnel at Fleetwood RNLI station to take part in a moorland exercise with our team in the immediate future.
