Team Ceilidth success
Tonight saw our annual team Ceilidth once more at the now well known venue to our many supporters of this event of St Mary’s Church Hall, Horwich.
With music provided as usual by the ever popular ’ Toll Bar Band,’ this evening was a sell out success, with over 140 people attending. (and virtually all got up for the last dance, what a sight !)
This was the first time this annual event had been wholly organised by our Support Group, having been organised in the past by Call Out list members.
As such special thanks are due to Support Group members Emma Peel for ticket and poster design and printing, to Hazel Kennedy for ticket sales (no one dared say no !) and to Gillian Gregory for organising the raffle ticket sales. (again no was not an option !) Thanks also to our Catering Officer Chris Tennant and his wife (and Support Group member) Tina Tennant for organising the dishing out of the evenings traditional pasty and peas.
The raffle consisting of an amazing 42 prizes, raised on the night £237.00, and our thanks are extended to all who donated prizes, especially team supporter Susan Rourke, who provides us with an endless supply of excellent raffle prizes every year for this event and our Annual Team Dinner.
Amongst the guests were the usual large contingent from the ’Morrissey’ family, (congratulations by the way to ex team members Claire Morrissey and Daniel Lewis on their summer wedding abroad), the equally usual large group brought along by ex team member Peter Idle, with a record 24 ticket sales attributable to the group brought along by team member Fred Taylor.
Dancers (and the few non dancers) included team members, ex team members, support group members, families, friends and valued supporters of the team.
Ticket sales, once expenses had been paid, raised a further £210.67, which added to the raffle monies, amounted to a grand total of £447.67 raised for the team on the evening.
Next year’s Team Ceilidth has already been booked for Friday evening, 21st November 2008, same venue – St Mary’s Church Hall, Horwich, same excellent band and caller – ’The Toll Bar Band’ Do come along and support us.
(Our two left footed team leader once more graced the dancefloor, ’General’ as usual was two steps behind every move, new member Sue Purtill had a continuous grin on her face watching the antics of her husband on the dancefloor, whilst the more experienced dancers did their best to avoid the more numerous ’less’ experienced dancers.)
See you all next year, dancing shoes at the ready.
