This evening Tricia Nowell visited the team to say a personal thankyou to all the team members who helped her and her daughters, when in the company of her partner Andrew Smith, he tragically drowned in Anglezarke Reservoir whilst saving the life of Tricias daughter Aimee, on May 14th 2008. (see Incident 57-2008)

Tricia who witnessed this tragedy on that terrible evening, very bravely spoke to the whole team to thank them for taking part in the search operation for her partner Andrew Smith, alongside Fire, Police and Ambulance resources.

In a private meeting with our Team Leader, Garry Rhodes MBE, Deputy Leader Geoff Seddon and Vice President Alan James, Tricia talked openly of her admiration for what we and the other Emergency Services did on that night.

Tricia also spoke privately with Bolton MRT team member Samantha McKay, who on the evening looked after Tricias two daughters, Aimee and Jodie, who had also tragically witnessed the drowning of their mothers partner. Tricia passed to Samantha a card of thanks from Aimee and Jodie, the contents of which especially given their young ages, are very thoughtful and humbling.

Tricia also passed to our Team Leader, Garry Rhodes MBE, a donation along with a very kind letter of thanks to all the team members. The contents of this letter are largely too private to divulge here, other than calling all of us “…Angels sent to help my daughters and Andrew…” and commenting that “…what you do out of the goodness of your hearts is remarkable…“
