Hosted annually and fully supported by the Bolton MRT, this weekend course aims to give participants a full insight, over the course of a residential weekend, into the basics of Mountain Rescue.
Planning for this years course over the weekend of October 17th / 18th / 19th has now commenced, with guest lecturers being arranged from Greater Manchester Police, North West Ambulance Service, a Hospital Accident and Emergency Department and the Home Office Forensic Service.
Alongside these guest lecturers there are the usual very experienced Mountain Rescue and Lowland Search and Rescue senior members attending to lend their expertise to the students attending.
At this stage we can confirm that the following teams will be attending with students and instructors; Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, North East Wales Search and Rescue Team, Cheshire Lowland Search and Rescue Team and Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team, at present 35 students in total subject to confirmation.
This established course based at the excellent Bolton Scout Camp facilities at Bibbys Farm, Limbrick, benefits from the considerable help from the members of our Support Group with excellent catering throughout the weekend.
Fingers crossed the weather on Saturday for this years course is more favourable than the wet conditions of last year.
