Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

31st July 2008

Today the team was very pleased to receive a very kind £30.51 donation from Kingshill School, Elliot Street, Tyldesley. In a letter with the donation, Acting Deputy Headteacher Gillian Leigh explained how the money had been raised.

A charity week at the school had been arranged to promote Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, with pupils baking cakes and making keyrings, in design technology lessons, in order to raise funds.

Many other lessons at the school were spent researching and highlighting the work of Mountain Rescue Teams locally and around the country. Gillian explained in her kind and informative letter that “…this was extremely useful as many pupils were completely unaware of the (mountain rescue) service and the fact there is one based so close to where they live….

The whole team wishes to express its thanks to the pupils and staff at Kingshill School, Tyldesley, for their very kind support of the team.

Gillian Leigh, Acting Deputy Headteacher at Kingshill was a very valued and very well liked Bolton MRT call out list member from the mid 1980s through into the 1990s, her husband Ian, who she met in the team, is also a former Bolton MRT call out list member and ex team Deputy Leader
