Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

8th November 2008

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team hosted a Opiate Study Day open to all members of Mountain and Rescue and Search Rescue teams and Calder Valleys base in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire.

Bolton MRT Full Team Call out member and Emergency Nurse Practitioner in A&E Alistair Greenough was one of the instructors on the course, which also included John Ellerton (England & Wales Mountain Rescue Medical Officer). The teams attending the course included colleagues from Patterdale MRT, Cockermouth MRT, Calder Valley SRT, Rossendale Pendle MRT and Bowland Pennine MRT.

The course included sessions on alternative methods on the administration of pain relieving drugs available to Mountain Rescue Casualty Carers.

The course content was soon put in to practice when Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team were called out to a spot pickup to a fell runner with a dislocated kneecap on Stoodely Pike.

Alistair would like to pass on his thanks to Calder Valley SRT for hosting the day and for their hospitality (including the mince pies!)
