This evening our BM1 Landrover Ambulance, together with 4 Full Team Callout members and one Support Group member travelled to Grappenhall, Warrington to visit the base of 25th Warrington East Scout Troop, St Wilfrid’s, Grappenhall.
Following a visit to our team headquarters at Ladybridge Hall in April 2008 (see news article dated 18th April 2008) the members of the troop have been very busy undertaking various fundraising activities and collections.
On the night of our visit the Scout Group had been initially engaged in their Christmas carol concert visiting a care home and two local pubs and the team members were invited to join them in the carol recital (very brave as they hadn’t heard our lot sing before!)
After the carol concert the scouts, together with our team members re-convened at the scout hut for mince pies and other ’liquid refreshments’ before the formal presentations began.
After a few words by Denis Ward, the Scout Leader of the 25th Warrington East Scout Troop, the team was delighted to receive a cheque for £585.31, raised by all the scouts. The team would like to thank the whole 25th Warrington East Scout Troop and all who donated for this fantastic sum of money to continue the support from 25th Warrington East Scout Troop in the past.
As a thank you for this huge donation the team offered a prize for the three scouts who have collected the most over the past 8 months. The team would like to congratulate Phoebe Stocker (£64.07), Hannah Whiteley (£53.67) and Ross McKinnon (£40.04) who will be joining the team on a ’Mountain Rescue Experience’ day in the New Year. A news article will be posted on this website following the exercise.
Each Scout also received from the team, a certificate of thanks, a metal lapel MR supporters badge with a group certificate of thanks being awarded to Scout Leader Denis Ward as a thank you from Bolton Mountain Rescue to the 25th Warrington East Scout Troop, St Wilfird’s, Grappenhall.
At the conclusion of our visit, we received another surprise in the form of an additional £30.00 donation from the Scout Troop, bringing the total of all the donations received tonight to the sum of £615.31 (what a fantastic Christmas present to us.)
The team wish to extend their sincere thanks to 25th Warrington East Scout Troop for all their incredible efforts and continuing support and we look forward to welcoming the three scout fundraiser ’winners’ early next year.
