Bolton Soroptimist Club was established 70 years ago as part of the worldwide organisation for business and professional women. The four great ideals of Soroptimism can still be summarised as Standards, Friendship, Service and an International Outlook.

Bolton members continue to support local and international charities with practical action, lobbying for change and fundraising. Following awareness of a need comes advocacy to change what can be changed, supplemented by action. The nominated charities for 2008 – 2009 are Bolton Mountain Rescue, and Project SIerre. Working with the charity Hope and Homes for Children Soroptimists around the world are raising awareness and funds to help to restore to their communities young girls, often raped and orphaned by war. There is also an urgent need to enable the communities to accept back the girls and their young children.

The team is grateful to all the members of the Bolton Soroptimist Club for their very kind, thoughtful and considerate support of the Bolton MRT.
