Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

15th March 2009

For the second year running (and its second year since inception) the team today provided standby rescue cover for the ’Muddy March Hare’ races held within the Croal / Irwell Valley, Darcy Lever, Bolton.

Organised by Bolton United Harriers in partnership with Bolton MBC and their Countryside Ranger Service, todays events took place in wonderful Spring sunshine, although the mud was still much in evidence on all the runners taking part!

17x team members attended the event with our four Landrover Mountain Rescue Ambulances, providing standby rescue cover inclusive of first aid, spot pick up crews and a presence at most of the checkpoints.

(marshalls were also present throughout the event provided by the organisers)
Two events took place, a 2.5km Fun Run attracting 64x entrants and a Trail Race, 5km in length attractinga strong field of 84 runners.

Apart from some minor cuts and grazes the event ran without incident, (now if it could only be run without the mud! but thats the fun of this event!)
