Incident 55/2009

With the prior knowledge of NWAS (Manchester) knowing that the team was at its Ladybridge Hall base, our team leader was contacted by ambulance control at 13:38 requesting the teams assistance at a residential address in the Kearsley area of Bolton.

NWAS (Manchester) at this stage was dealing with a high volume of calls hence the request for the teams assistance.

Our BM2 vehicle arrived on scene to discover an elderly man had collapsed and with advice from ambulance control CPR was in progress by the mans son. On board our vehicle was one of our team doctors who provided immediate specialist care.

A second Bolton vehicle was dispatched to back up the three team members in our BM2 vehicle.

A NWAS (Manchester) rapid response paramedic also arrived on scene, with comprehensive resuscitation techniques continuing up to the arrival of an NWAS emergency ambulance.

The casualty was transferred to Royal Bolton hospital with resuscitation continuing en route by the ambulance crew and our team doctor.
