Line Dancing fundraiser in aid of team raises fantastic donation
This evening saw team members Martin Banks and Ana Toole, along with Martin’s girlfriend Stella, attend a fundraising event held on behalf of the team.
There follows Ana’s account of this excellent evening
When we arrived at the venue at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Horwich, the night was already in full swing with the dance floor packed with people of all ages energetically line dancing. We were met by Jean Mulvaney, a line dancing teacher and member of the Victory Stompers, who had co-organised the event together with Eric, who would later show his excellent skills as music master, who reported that there were about 80 people present. Her enthusiasm and support for the team after our busy winter period was heart warming.

The night proved to be an entertaining mix of dancing, raffles, games and a tombola not forgetting the vocal talents of Dave and the homemade cakes! The mid-interval pasty was also well received by us all! Everyone we spoke to was friendly and didn’t mind when we took to the dance floor and joined in with a simple dance. We took our seats as the dance changed to a “64 stepper” which, as Martin commented, “looks more complicated than assembling our Bell stretcher!”
WEBMASTER – We would just like to point out that the Bell is pre-assembled on top of the Land Rovers Martin !
Eric, Co-organiser & excellent DJ, Martin, Jean, Co-organiser & Ana with the excellent donation.
It proved to be an enjoyable night with everyone throwing themselves into the spirit of it. Jean’s efforts paid off as she presented us with a framed presentation cheque for an amazing amount of £515.72. We would like to thank all the people who supported us tonight, but especially Jean, for all her hard work. We left with big smiles on our faces and we hope to see Jean soon at our base to show her around.
