Fantastic achievement for Peter Bell, President of Mountain Rescue (England and Wales)

At todays AGM and Business meeting of Mountain Rescue (England and Wales) held at Lancashire Constabulary Force Headquarters, Hutton, Peter Bell the President of Mountain Rescue (England and Wales) was honoured by the presentation of a 50 years Service to Mountain Rescue Certificate.

The Certificate was presented to Peter in front of all the MR representatives present by Nick Owen, Team Leader of Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team, within which team Peter Bell holds the position of Vice President after a considerable period of time as a call out list member with LAMRT.

Peter Bell besides his work within LAMRT and LDSAMRA (Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association) regarding communication systems, is perhaps more widely better known as the man behind the Bell Mountain Rescue stretcher and the associated stretcher and engineering company.

Over the years we have had many dealings with Peter (and his wife) regarding the two Bell Mountain Rescue stretchers we operate within the team, and Peter has always dealt promptly with all our enquiries and works including upgrades to our stretchers.

To reach 50 years service in mountain rescue is a considerable achievement, and one we congratulate our National President Peter Bell on achieveing.

(Within our team, the nearest member we have to such a period of service is still serving on our call out list, founder team member Alan James, who joined Rossendale Fell Rescue team (as it was then) way back in 1967, going on to become one of our founder team members when our team was formed in 1968, he therefore has 43 continuous years service in mountain rescue to date)
