Fantastic donation received from the Rotary Club of Turton
This evening at the kind invitation of Mr Colin Roberts, Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Turton, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE attended a Charities Evening Presentation at the Rotary Club of Turton’s meeting at the Last Drop Village Hotel, Bromley Cross.
The evening presentation was to distribute donations to a number of charities, decided upon by the Rotary Club of Turton immediate Past President Mike Croft, at the conclusion of his year of office which concluded on 30th June 2010.
The donation presentations took place early evening in the cocktail bar of the Last Drop Village Hotel, presided over by Past President Mike Croft and current President Jeff Hibbert, with other officials and members of the Rotary Club of Turton also present.
All charities attending were asked to give a short overview of their work and how the support of the Rotary Club of Turton helps their charity.
On behalf of the team, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received a very kind and generous tremendous donation of £500.00 from the Rotary Club of Turton.
Other charities present at the evening receiving equally generous kind support of the Rotarians of Turton included Carers Direct, Bolton Day Trippers, Crossroads, Bolton Sea Cadets, Friends of Turton Tower, Mediquip 4 Kids and Darien House.
The North West Air ambulance was also a charity beneficiary but their representative could not attend the presentation.
This fantastic donation is yet another example of the incredible support the team receives from local Rotary Clubs, and the whole team membership appreciates the very kind support received from the Rotary Club of Turton. (See www.turtonrotaryclub.org.uk)
At the conclusion of the evenings presentation Garry presented to the Rotarians of Turton Rotary Club a number of ’Bolton MRT Supporter car stickers’, and information leaflets on the work of the team.
On 17th September 2008, the outgoing President of Turton Rotary Club at the time, Alan Wilkinson (Also a former Mayor of Bolton, Mayoral Office Year 2000) made a surprise visit to the team with a £400.00 donation for the team from the Rotary Club of Turton. Alan Wilkinson was also present at tonights presentation and passed on his best wishes to all in the team. (Please see website ’news’ article dated Wednesday 17th September 2008)
