Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

31st October 2010

Potential new team call out list membership applications for our November 2011 membership intake have now been closed after considerable interest was generated in joining the team.

We first advertised that we were recruiting again via our website on September 12th 2010, since which time to date we have received thirty eight on line applications, two direct email enquiries, three postal applications, and one telephone application to join the team, a grand total of forty four enquiries.

The local daily newspaper, The Bolton News, has also advertised the fact that we are recruiting, with most of our applications arising from their seven separate articles to date. The Leigh Journal has also advertised our latest recruitment drive.

We’ve had applications from a wide spectrum of the community, all with a common interest in hill walking, or climbing or mountaineering, and obviously in giving something back to their local community.

Potential applicants include a Dental Surgeon, two Arboricultural students, an RSPCA Inspector, an Intensive Care Nurse, a Teacher, ex and serving Police Officers, a Student Paramedic, a Consultant Psychologist, two Medical Doctors, a Community Support Worker, a Surveyor and a Solicitor.

Of the forty four total applicants to date nine are women, and the age range of those applying varies from the youngest at 18 to the oldest at 63.

Most applicants are from the Bolton area, with others from Warrington, Astley, Daisy Hill, Lowton, Leigh, Hindley Green, Edgworth, Haigh, Atherton, Manchester and further afield.

All potential applicants are reminded that it is an essential requirement to be able to attend our weekly Wednesday evening training sessions, as well as to have the flexibility to attend emergency call outs (which after all is our reason for existing!)

So far from the forty four initial applications received to date, twenty applicants have gone on to actually confirm their attendance on the Thursday evening and all day Sunday sessions.

Via the website we would like to stress to all applicants who have yet to confirm their attendance on the Thursday and Sunday sessions to do so immediately to ensure they have a place on this intake, as the cut off date for applications to attend our Thursday and Sunday sessions is Monday evening, November 1st 2010. Beyond this date we will not accept booking confirmations.

Potential applicants accepted to join the team as Probationary Team Members after the Thursday evening, November 4th and all day Sunday November 7th Membership Introductory sessions will be expected to commence their training with the team straightaway on Wednesday evening, November 10th at our Ladybridge Hall, Bolton, HQ / Base at 19.00hrs.

For those still interested in joining the team, our next recruitment sessions are likely to take place in mid to late 2011 – keep checking our website for the exact dates.
