10th May 2011

Today our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received a letter of thanks from Paul Richardson, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, regards our recent assistance at the large scale moorland fire centred upon Anglezarke Moor and the surrounding areas, near Belmont, Bolton. “May I take this opportunity on behalf of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to thank you and your staff for their hard work and dedication at the recent moorland fires in Lancashire, notably Belmont.

It has been an extremely intense period dealing with frequently arduous and difficult conditions, often for protracted lengths of time.”

“As duty Principal Officer for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for the majority of this period, and having attended the incident on a number of occasions, I am both aware and appreciative of the contribution made by Bolton Mountain Rescue in providing logistical assistance for large numbers of staff.”

“Once again thank you for your organisation’s involvement and commitment and please pass on our thanks to all your staff involved.”
