This afternoon, ‘fresh’ from the previous evenings Bolton MRT Annual Team Dinner our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, attended the AGM of our national organisation, Mountain Rescue England and Wales, which was immediately followed by the Business Meeting, both held at the usual venue of the Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters at Hutton, Preston.
Bolton MRT team member (And immediate past Training Officer) Elaine Gilliland also attended in her new capacity as MPSRO (Our regional mountain rescue body) representative to the MREW.
A great deal of business was covered, including the sub committee meetings in the morning.
News includes the soon to be launched Mountain Rescue Benevolent Fund, the awarding of a Fifty years in Mountain Rescue Certificate to Ian Hurst of Buxton MRT and the PDMRO, and news of the continuation of the Government Grant to UK Mountain Rescue.
There was also news on MREW having ‘passed’ its Royal Patronage Review again, with progress reports on the ‘Peer review of MRT team capabilities project,’ and the ‘MRT Major Incident Response project.’
