Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

10th October 2013

At 18.57hrs this evening, co-incidentally just as he arrived at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ to carry out more preparation work with others, for our forthcoming Foundation Course in Mountain Rescue, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was contacted directly by the GMP Force Duty Officer regarding the teams possible assistance at an incident.

After initial discussion, it was felt prudent to place the team on standby for the incident in the vicinity of Raikes Clough, Burnden, Bolton, whilst Garry collected and then awaited more details from GMP Officers involved in this incident.

By 19.42hrs the team was placed on full standby, with all vehicles requested, and our SAR Boat made ready if required.

In constant contact with GMP, our Team Leader was informed just prior to 20.00hrs, that the team would not be required this evening, and at 20.05hrs the team was stood down via pager.

By this stage, our Incident Control Vehicle was crewed and ready to respond from its GMFRS Bolton Central Fire Station garage, with all four of our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles also crewed and immediately awaiting the call to respond, from our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, alongside our 3.5 metre semi rigid inflatable SAR Boat.

Eighteen Call Out list members were on standby at this time at both our GMFRS Bolton Central Fire Station garage, and our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ.

A further nine team members had declared themselves immediately available and on standby at their home locations.

At the conclusion of this incident our Team Leader further liaised with specialist Police resources regarding concluding this incident.
