Visit to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ by two members of Radcliffe Athletics Club
This evening at 18:30hrs we welcomed to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ Mark Emmett, Chairman, and Alan Sumner, both members of Radcliffe Athletics Club.
Mark and Alan were met by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, who welcomed them both to our Base / HQ.
Their visit was to discuss the possibility of Bolton MRT providing ‘standby rescue cover’ for at least one of their Athletics Club’s annual runs, namely the Bull Hill Fell Race, scheduled this year to take place on the evening of Thursday 10th July 2014.
This event starts and finishes at the top of Hawkshaw Lane, Hawkshaw, and takes in a course including Pilgrims Cross and Bull Hill summit on Holcombe Moor, alongside the head of the Army Holcombe Range.
We are happy to report the outcome of this meeting was that we will be providing such cover at this Thursday evening event this year and in subsequent years by invitation.
Both Mark and Alan of Radcliffe Athletics Club showed considerable interest in the work of the team during their visit, particularly as many team members were still present at our Base / HQ, after the stand down from Incident 19, and awaiting the start of our weekly Wednesday evening exercise.
Garry presented Mark and Alan each with a metal Mountain Rescue Supporters Lapel badge and a Bolton MRT ‘Supporters’ car sticker.
The Bolton MRT welcomes this new relationship with Radcliffe Athletics Club, who also run and organise many other events such as Trail runs within the Bolton MRTs operational area.
