Update on previous three Wednesday evening exercises
Apologies for not keeping our readers up to date, we present below a short report of the previous three Wednesday evening exercises.
Wednesday 26th February
28 Team Callout List members and Support Group member Iain Clarkson all took part in a search and rescue exercise within the Eagley Brook area of North Bolton. The exercise was organised by Team Callout List member Matthew Hailwood with help from others.
Team members were allocated into search parties to find the missing (and “injured”) Iain Clarkson and another “walking wounded” casualty (a Team member), who were soon found and evacuated from the allotted search areas.
Wednesday 5th March
32 Team Callout List members were present at our Ladybridge Hall Base/HQ to undertake some map navigation theory training in preparation for the exercise of Wednesday 12th March. Excellent training materials were produced by our youngest team member Jess Ellsmore, ably assisted in the training presentation by colleague team member Michael Wakerley.
Wednesday 12th March
Following from the last week’s training session, 21 Team Callout List members took part in a night-time solo moorland navigation exercise in the Roddlesworth Plantations and Darwen Moor area. This excellent evening exercise was organised by team members Jess Ellsmore and Michael Wakerley, who had set out two 12-point micro-navigation courses during the afternoon of this same day.
