Team receives fantastic donation of four complete sets of state of the art LED lighting units for all our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles
In December last year (2013) we were contacted via the MREW (Mountain Rescue England and Wales) Vehicles Officer with details of an offer which was available to all of us within the UK Voluntary Land Search and Rescue community.
This incredibly kind and very supportive offer was from a UK based company called The Mobile Centre (MCL) who are an LED Vehicle light specialist.
Due to a very fortuitous set of circumstances and initial talks between MCL and The Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA), MCL were able to offer over £30,000.00 worth of Vehicle LED lights, completely free, to any Search and Rescue team which is a member of Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW), Scottish Mountain Rescue, British Cave Rescue Council (BCRC) and the Association of Lowland Search and Rescue (ALSAR).
This very generous donation offer included completely free of charge LED headlights and/or sidelight, flasher, stop and rear number plate lights combination packs for Land Rover Defender 90/110/130 vehicles.
Our readers will recall that we currently operate four Land Rover 110 Defenders, specially constructed as Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles, and so we were in a position to take advantage of this marvellous offer.
All we had to do was to contact MCL with details about our vehicles, which LED vehicle lighting packs we wanted and details of a contact for our team.
This task fell to our Team Equipment Officer – Vehicles Officer at the time Chris Greenhalgh (Now our Deputy Team Leader) who promptly contacted MCL providing all the necessary information.
Earlier this year Chris was kindly contacted by MCL informing us of the great news that they had accepted our request for the light packs for all four of our Land Rovers.
Last week, the LED vehicle lighting kits arrived with us and on Easter Monday, 21st April, Chris Greenhalgh and our newly elected Equipment Officer – Vehicles, Neil Aspinall, successfully carried out the first installation of this donated equipment to one of our four Land Rovers, Radio Call Sign ‘Bolton Mobile 3,’
Over the next few weeks the kindly donated LED kits will be fitted to our remaining Land Rover Mountain Rescue vehicles.
The entire membership of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team would like to thank MCL for this very kind, generous and supportive offer, which will greatly enhance the effectiveness of the lighting fitted to our Land Rover Mountain rescue Ambulance vehicles.
We would also like to thank SARA for their part in this wonderful donation in negotiating this excellent deal.
Soon we hope to publish pictures within the ‘News’ section of our website, of our vehicles fitted with the new LED lights.
