Great Support from Elaine’s Dancers for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team
As reported within these news pages on 15th January 2015, Elaine Birchall, organiser of Elaine’s Dancers, who meet weekly at St Mary’s Church Hall, Richmond Street, Horwich, arranged a special charity line-dancing evening dedicated to the memory of the late Jean Mulvaney.
Jean, who unfortunately passed away late last year, was a wonderful friend and supporter of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and over a period of four years raised an amazing £3,142.83 to support our work.
Elaine, therefore, decided to donate the proceeds of the evening to our charity in Jean’s memory and invited representatives of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team to attend the event.
Support Group members, Gillian Gregory and Amanda Strickleton, who had both attended several of Jean’s charity evenings, were pleased to accept the kind invitation and went along.
They were treated to great hospitality, given a delicious supper of pasty and peas, and were asked to make the draw for the raffle.
Jean’s family had been invited to the evening and it was somehow appropriate that the first raffle ticket drawn by Amanda belonged to Jean’s husband, Alan, who won first prize of a large food hamper, he also won another prize of a jewelled bracelet, and his daughter, Lisa, won some bottles of wine!
Towards the end of the evening, Gillian and Amanda were invited to receive the donation arising from the fundraising tombola, ticket sales, and raffle and were absolutely delighted to receive the fantastic amount of £403.00.
Our photograph shows them receiving the money from Elaine Birchall.
Gillian & Amanda wish to pass on their thanks for the hospitality extended to them, and all members of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team would like to add their sincere appreciation to Elaine and her members for their thoughtful and very generous support.
