Very kind Fell Runner reunites team member with missing waterproof overtrousers
Readers may recall that on Wednesday night, 28th January, we held an exercise centred upon the high moorland car park of Hordern Stoops, which due to thunder, snow and strong winds had to be abandoned part way through.
With the terrible weather conditions prevailing all bade a hasty retreat to lower ground, team member Tony Dawson who was present, later discovered that his team issue waterproof overtrousers were missing, presumably blown out of the back of his car when he was packing away his kit at Hordern Stoops, in the strong wind.
Today team member Steve Fletcher contacted Tony Dawson, to say that Jaynie Dickinson, a local Fell Runner, had contacted the team, to say that she had the overtrousers – distinctively badged with the teams logo.
It transpired that she had been out fell running in company, on Thursday evening and had been heading towards Winter Hill, however it started to thunder and lighting so they cut back on to the old road between the Pigeon Tower and Belmont Road.
They ran back along Belmont Road and near Hordern Stoops car park she got a reflection from the reflective piping on the trousers from her head torch.
Upon investigation she found the trousers buried in the snow, noticed the logo for Bolton MRT and decided to take them back with her and contacted the team.
This afternoon Tony Dawson met with Jaynie Dickinson at her Bromley Cross home, to collect the overtrousers, thanking her for so kindly taking the time to reunite them with the team / Tony Dawson.
