On Tuesday 31st March 2015, the Bolton MRT will be attending the ‘Emergency 999’ ‘Show and Tell’ event being held at LFRS Training Centre, Washington Hall, Euxton Lane, Chorley, Lancashire.

This event which is not open to the public, is a multi agency ‘Show and Tell’ day for Category 1 and 2 Responders, which includes Public Sector, Statutory 999 and Voluntary Sector services.

It is being planned as an event at which the assets and capabilities which would be available in the event of a ‘Major Incident’ in Lancashire, can be show cased, with all the liaison and net working opportunities such an event will offer.

From the opening at 09.00hrs, two sessions are being held during the day, at 09.30 – 12.30hrs and 13.30 – 16.30hrs.

This afternoon, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE and team member Steve O’Hara, attended a briefing and planning meeting for this event, which was held at the British Red Cross Offices, at Pittman Court, Fulwood, Preston, Lancashire.

Commencing at 14.00hrs the meeting concluded at 15.15hrs, with Kevin Place, British Red Cross Emergency Response Manager, Chairing the meeting, and introductions by LFRS Response and Emergency Planning Officer, Rodney Steele, who is acting as the event organiser and co-ordinator.

Also present at todays meeting was 2x members of Bay Search and Rescue, RAYNET, Rotary UK, Howard Buckley of North West 4×4 Response, Geoff Cheshire – Senior Response Manager BRC and Emma from the BRC.

Much was discussed, including exhibitor siting, catering for the event, presentations and timings required and suggestions as to participants / organisations not yet invited.

So far the following agencies are known to be attending and displaying their numerous resources;

  • Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service – including ISAR, USAR, Heavy Animal Rescue Unit and their Rope Rescue Team
  • North West Ambulance Service
  • North West Ambulance Service HART
  • British Red Cross – including FESS
  • Bay Search and Rescue
  • HM Coast Guard
  • Highways Agency
  • Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal
  • North West Police Underwater Search and Marine Unit
  • Fire Service DIM Team
  • WRVS
  • Rad Safe
  • North West 4×4 Response
  • National Police Air Service
  • Salvation Army
  • Multi Faith Forum
  • 42 Brigade British Army
  • Mountain Rescue Teams from Bolton MRT and possibly Rossendale and Pendle MRT and Bowland Pennine MRT

Please note, to repeat, this is not an event open to the public, though all organisations present on the day will be utilising social media and other media, to inform the wider public of their participation at the day and why this important event is being held.
