Team Leader attends MPSRO meeting this evening
This evening, commencing at 20.00hrs, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, attended the routine quarterly evening meeting of the Mid Pennine Search and Rescue Organisation – MPSRO, our regional mountain rescue body.
Amongst those in attendance this evening were Gillian Howarth, Team Leader of Holme Valley MRT, Deputy Team Leaders Andy Simpson and Graham Dalley of Rossendale and Pendle MRT, Kev Camplin Team Leader of Bowland Pennine MRT, alongside other representatives of each of these teams and Calder Valley SRT.
As usual the meeting was hosted by Rossendale and Pendle MRT at their still icy and snowy Haslingden Base / HQ – with a request to put the heating on next time!
Routine agenda items over, there was congratulations to Calder Valley SRT on the appointment of a new Team Leader and a new Deputy Team Leader, and the news that RPMRT were about to declare their new base / garage at Burnley operational, extending their coverage of their team area.
Discussions also took place with regards to the MPSRO SARCALL Silver Group, MPSRO facilitated SARMAN training and items relating to our national body, including the future content of our national MREW Mountain Rescue Casualty Care Course, and hypothermia protocols.
Very initial comment was also made on the MPSRO region hosting the Mountain Rescue Prince’s Trust 2016 event.
The meeting closed very late on for some, and their long journeys back to their homes on this cold and frosty evening.
