Whilst present providing Standby Rescue Cover, for the Annual Rivington Pike Fell Race, towards the end of the race at around 15.25, the crew of our Land Rover ambulance positioned at the finish line was approached by a lady asking if we could help her son who was having an asthma attack after completing the race.
Long serving team member and newly elected Equipment Officer – Medical, Mark Scott was immediately on hand to assist along with Deputy Team Leader Chris Greenhalgh.
Medical aid was given to the 14 year old boy and an NWAS Emergency ambulance was called.
The boy sat in the warmth of our Land Rover and was looked after until the arrival of the ambulance at 16.00.
Thankfully by then his condition was improving as we handed over to the care of the NWAS Ambulance crew.
