This morning, at the kind invitation of Mrs Kathleen Pyle, the President of Horwich Inner Wheel Club, long serving team member Mark Scott, accompanied by Team Secretary, Gillian Gregory, officially opened their Coffee Morning at 10:00am at Horwich RMI Social Club. Mark thanked Horwich Inner Wheel Club for choosing Bolton Mountain Rescue Team as their charity to support; he commented on how Gillian and he were overwhelmed at the marvellous array of goods for sale at the Coffee Morning and thanked the club members for the huge amount of work they had all put into creating a wide range of home-made items. There were cakes and preserves, jewellery, crafts, a huge tombola, as well as second-hand books, Guess the Weight of the Christmas Puddings and Guess the Name of the Teddy Bear.
The event was honoured with the attendance of the Mayor and Mayoress of Horwich, Cllr Ken Denton and his wife Sue, as well as Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Horwich, Cllr Jim Bullock and his wife, Dorothy. Mark and Gillian were also pleased to say hello to firm supporters of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, former Councillors Bob and Barbara Ronson.
Mark and Gillian would like to thank President, Kathleen Pyle, Secretary Katie Maher, and all the members of Horwich Inner Wheel Club for their warm hospitality and wonderful support of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team. This is a major fundraising event of their year in support of the Team. Kathleen handed Mark a beautifully gift-wrapped box of assorted home-made preserves (jam, marmalade, chutney) for the Team and he faithfully promised not to raid the contents for the next morning’s breakfast toast!
Horwich Inner Wheel Club members have been very supportive of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team for many years, as previous news articles show: see July 13th 2004, June 2nd 2005, , June 8th 2010, July 29 2010, , July 5th 2011, June 6th 2013, March 27th 2015, September 3rd 2015, September 7th 2015.
