Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

11th November 2015

Tonights exercise was a partial re-creation of an incident the team attended on 19th January 2012, Incident 10/2012, where a person was injured in the River Roddlesworth within the Roddlesworth/Tockholes Plantation.

Organised by Paul Brain, with RVP at the Tockholes Information Centre, a fast party search headed down to Halliwell Fold Bridge (also known locally as Stoney Bridge) to search for the two missing walkers, reported to be next to water, 10 minutes walk from the bridge.

Tonights exercise casualties, Debbie Bevitt and Tina Kuczer, were positioned in the river bed, with Debbie suffering a right leg femur open fracture. Tina was playing the role of a concerned friend, “interfering” with the team trying to assess and treat Debbie. After the initial assessment the team decided Debbie would require stretchering off, as she was unable to walk with her “injury”, so a stretcher party was dispatched to the exercise location.

On completion, the team retired to The Royal pub for liquid refreshments.

The team would like to thank Debbie and Tina, both members of the Darwen Dashers Running Club, for agreeing to assist the team as exercise casualties this evening.
