Very kind donation to the team by Ashton-in-Makerfield Congregational Church

Recently Beryl Pugh, the Treasurer of Ashton-in-Makerfield Congregational Church, contacted our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, informing him that her congregation wished to support a local charity and that mountain rescue had been mentioned.

During the course of their telephone conversation, Beryl who hailing from the Yorkshire Dales was no stranger to Mountain Rescue (or more correctly the Cave Rescue Organisation) learnt that the Bolton MRT also works operationally in the Ashton-in-Makerfield area, which although in the ‘lowlands,’ does see the team engaged in missing person searches and assisting NWAS in difficult to reach casualties in the surrounding open countryside.

This Beryl stated made her thoughts of a donation, all the more relevant.

Today our Team Leader received in the post from Beryl Pugh the following very kind letter;

“Dear Garry,

It was good to talk to you earlier and discover some of your enthusiasm and commitment for your work for Mountain Rescue.

Please accept this £30.00 as a small donation to help you continue in this endeavour.

Yours sincerely, Beryl Pugh, Treasurer, Ashton-in-Makerfield Congregational Church.”

The whole team membership extends its sincere thanks to all at Ashton-in-Makerfield Congregational Church, Hilton Street, Wigan, for their kindness in making this wonderful and very thoughtful donation to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
