At 16.04hrs this afternoon, a GMP Missing Person Search Manager contacted our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE regards the assistance of the teams Mountain Rescue Trailing Search Dog, in regards to a missing 73 year old man, in the Hindley area of Wigan.
The man had been reported missing from his home address on Atherton Road, Hindley, where he had last been seen on Monday morning 1st February 2016.
GMP had conducted some initial local area searches, and now wished the involvement of Trailing Search Dog Handler Steve Nelson and his Search Dog Boris.
Our Team Leader made a group page at 16.13hrs informing the team of the request.
Arrangements were made for Steve and Boris to meet with the GMP Missing Person Search Manager early evening, at the missing mans home address.
We also mobilised our Incident Control Vehicle, which arrived on scene, with team members Steve Fletcher and Mike Marsh, near to the Hindley RVP at 19.51hrs.
Trailing search Dog Handler Steve Nelson, Search Dog Boris and Elaine Gilliland, as navigator, arrived shortly afterwards, and received a briefing from the GMP Missing Person Search Manager at 20.20hrs, following which Boris commenced a trail search.
By 21.24hrs their search was completed, and by 21.45hrs Steve, Boris, Elaine, Steve Fletcher and Mike Marsh, had all departed the location.
GMP enquiries continue in an effort to locate this missing man, with our involvement having aided such investigations.
