Our Team Leader, Garry Rhodes, was invited to the Annual Dinner of the Bolton C.H.A. Rambling Club this evening, held at the Watermillock Hotel, Crompton Way, Bolton to receive a donation from the Club to the Team. The Bolton Club was formed in 1905 and throughout its Centenary Year a number of fundraising events were held with the aim of donating the monies raised to the Bolton MRT.
Amongst the fundraising events were six Open Garden events at members gardens, a Presidents Walk in August 2005, an exhibition of memorabilia relating to the Club, a map and book sale and a Christmas Centenery Party with an Edwardian theme. The President of the Club gave a short speech after the excellent dinner and then presented our Team Leader with the donation. To say that he was surprised would be an understatement, as the donation was a truely fantastic £810.00, which was totally unexpected by our Team Leader, who then went on to deliver a short thankyou speech to the assembled Club members and their guests.
Late last year members of Bolton C.H.A. Rambling Club acted the part of exercise casualties on one of our #article#1016#Wednesday night exercises#, going on to write a very kind letter about the work of the team into the Bolton Evening News, they said at the time they were raising a little bit of money for the team, so the huge amount received tonight is a big surprise.
We wish all at Bolton C.H.A. Rambling Club well on all their walks, local and far, and heres to the next 100 years for the Club!
