Attendance at Darwen 999 Day
Today, at the invitation of the organisers of Darwen 999 day taking place on Darwen Market Square one Support Group member attended this event with our Mountain Rescue Vehicle BM3 on display. Many other team members and vehicles were still committed to assisting the Fire and Rescue services at the ongoing fire on Winter Hill so special thanks to Iain Clarkson from our support group for attending this event on our behalf.
Other displays on the day included Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Blood bikes, Fire cadets, Lancashire Ambulance service, Poppy appeal and Lancashire police.
We had many members of the general public asking questions on what we do and how the fire was on Winter hill.
The team was very grateful for the interest shown in our work and by all who visited us and thankful for the fantastic donations totalling £94.29.

Store Collection at ASDA Farnworth
On 30th June 2018, whilst most of the team was engaged assisting the Fire Service with the moorland fires at Rivington, five of our Support Group and one operational team member operated a rota to hold a charity collection in the entrance of ASDA’s store at Brackley Street, Farnworth, from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
Thanks to the generosity of ASDA’s kind customers, we collected a fantastic total of £230.74 towards our search and rescue work. We would like to thank the management of ASDA Farnworth for granting permission for our collection and making us welcome on the day, and, of course, huge thanks to the many wonderful shoppers who paused to talk to our collectors and drop their donations into our buckets.
