At 22.31hrs late this evening, the team was paged to assist Greater Manchester Police with the urgent search for a missing 80 years old man in the Stretford area of Manchester.
The man had been missing since late afternoon, after going out for a walk in a nearby park with his dog, when he didn’t return home (nor did the dog) his wife became very worried and contacted the Police.
In a joint search operation with GMP Air Support Unit Helicopter, which flew two separate searches over the area, 22x team members a GMP Missing Person Search Manager, Local Divisional Police Officers and a Police Dog Team, carried out an extensive search of the Longford Park and Turn Moss open space areas of Stretford, all very close to the missing mans home address, and areas where he was known to locally walk with his dog.
By 02.00hrs in the morning of Tuesday 14th November, the search had drawn a blank, and with Police efforts continuing we departed to await a probable morning recall and continuation.
Fortunately the search had a happy ending when a motorist reported the missing man with his dog, walking along the side of the nearby motorway as dawn broke, a passing Police patrol quickly recovered the man, who was confused, and reunited him and his dog, with his grateful wife.
