NWAS (GMA) paged the team at 20:27 tonight to enquire if we could help as part of their step-up procedure due to extra loading on the ambulance system.

One vehicle was made available to NWAS (GMA) which was crewed by 3 team members. From 21:07 onwards the vehicle was tasked to attend 3 incidents – one code Red, one code Amber; both in Little Hulton, and one code Green in Irlam.

The vehicle was stood down at 23:40 and the MRT base was closed at 00:45, with all equipment put away and made ready for the next callout.

Late tonight, NWAS(GMA) contacted the Team Leader via telephone to enquire if we could help as part of their step-up procedure with a sudden increase in emergency calls on this busy Friday night.

Three vehicles were made available to NWAS (GMA) crewed by 8 team members and were all very quickly despatched to various incidents within a few minutes of being declared available. In addition to the 8 team members on the road two other team members provided control and admin support along with 1 member of our Support Group Johanne Lamb keeping the crews fed and watered.

In total 9 incidents were dealt with comprising of 4 code reds, 3 code ambers and 2 code greens. For further information please refer to the incidents section of the website.

The vehicles were stood down at the conclusion of these incidents following the return to the normal Friday evening NWAS incident load, the base finally being vacated at 01:00.

Late tonight, NWAS (GMA) contacted the Team Leader via telephone to enquire if we could help as part of their step-up procedure with a sudden increase in emergency calls.

One vehicle was made available to NWAS (GMA) and at 23:39 the vehicle was dispatched to a code Red incident in Salford, where a pregnant woman suffering from abdominal pains was transported to the Delivery Suite at Hope Hospital.

10 minutes after clearing at the previous incident, the same vehicle was tasked to attend a code Amber incident in Bury where a man with a suspected kidney infection required urgent transport to Fairfield Hospital, Bury.

The vehicle was stood down at the conclusion of this incident and the three team members had returned to their beds by 02:00 that morning.

At 17:45 Hrs NWAS (GMA) contacted the Team Leader, Garry Rhodes, direct by telephone to enquire if we could help as part of their step-up procedure with a sudden increase in emergency calls.

One vehicle was made available to NWAS (GMA) and at 19:30 Hrs they were dispatched to a cardiac patient, for forward transportation to Wythenshawe Hospital from the Wigan area.

During this assistance, it was established that the peak demand situation had eased somewhat and things were back to a ’typical Friday night’. On clearing at Wythenshawe hospital the 3 man crew of BM 1 were informed that they could return to base, by the control member at our base.

The usual paperwork trail at our Ladybridge Hall Base had to be completed, which is always the case if it’s 1 assist or 15 assists and the base alarm was set at 22:30 Hrs.
