At 21:28 this evening, the team was paged by NWAS (Greater Manchester) who were requesting our assistance at an incident in Lower Kersal, Salford.
A man had been riding his bicycle in the Kersal Dale Country Park area and had apparently taken a fall. Although he had tried to make his own way out of the park, due to the nature of his injuries he was unable to do so.
An ambulance was called but due to the casualty’s location, which was down a difficult to access embankment, the team were required to assist in a relatively short stretcher evacuation back to the waiting ambulance.
Our first responding team vehicle was en-route from our Ladybridge Hall base/HQ at 21:36 and arrived on scene in Lower Kersall at 21:56, to compliment the first responding team members who had begun to arrive on scene at 21:44.
Due to a suspected spinal injury, the injured male was immobilised on a long board by the NWAS Paramedic crew from Swinton ambulance station, and the casualty was then evacuated on a Bell mountain rescue stretcher by team members.
The casualty was loaded onto the waiting NWAS Ambulance for onward transport to hospital at 22:17 and the incident was concluded with the Bolton MRT vehicles returning back at the Ladybridge Hall base at 23:00.
In total, 13 team members responded to this incident in 3 team vehicles.
