1471 (Horwich) Squadron Air Cadets visits team this evening
Tonight we were visited at our Ladybbridge Hall Base / HQ by the 1471 (Horwich) Squadron Air Cadets.
Seventeen members of the squadron attended along with their instructors Warrant Officer Rob Mansfield and Paul Carroll.
The Squadron were met by full call out team members Kris Kilshaw, Michael Wakerley, Equipment Officer – Medical Steve James , Heath Doran and our Equipment Officer – Base and Catering Paul Copley.
The Squadron were shown the latest MREW film about mountain rescue followed by a question and answer session.
Then we split the Air Cadets present into 2 groups, with Paul and Steve showing them our new advanced training manikin (nicknamed Lurch by team members) and how we can now train using the manikin, and then ran through our Medical Trauma sack contents and uses.
Heath and Kris demonstrated some of the comprehensive search and rescue equipment we carry on the two Team Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances we garage at our Base / HQ, followed by showing how to use our splints and vacuum mattress.
The night ended with another question and answer session before we said goodbye to the 1471 (Horwich) Squadron Air Cadets who at the end of their visit gave the team a wonderful of £20.00 cash donation.
The team would like to thank 1471 (Horwich) Squadron Air Cadets for taking the time to visit us and their interest in what we do, and thank them for their fantastic donation.
A second group from this same Air Cadet Squadron is visiting the team on Thursday 3rd March 2016.
