Today, a very early start saw 23 Team Members carry out a safety and standby rescue cover for the World Firefighter Games Triathlon Event based at The Anderton Centre, on the shores of Lower Rivington Reservoir, Horwich.
160 competitors from Fire and Rescue Services all over the world started the event with a swim in Lower Rivington Reservoir, followed by a road cycle stage travelling north to Hoghton, Wheelton and Anglezarke, ending with a 10km run to Rivington Pike and returning to the Anderton Centre.
Many Fire Service personnel were on hand to assist with marshalling and race control, backed up by our control trailer at the Anderton Centre, and our four Landrover Ambulances in various places on the cycle and run routes.
The event concluded at around 13:00 with all competitors returning safely from the excellent, well organised and well attended event.
Please see the news articles dated 4th August 2007 and 15 July 2007 where the teams involvement began regarding this event, and where the team received a £250 donation for this event.
